Family Friendly Route - Witham - Suitable for Families with Children Under 10 years Old
This cycle route is largely flat and traffic free, suitable for families with children under 10 years old. The route includes lots for children to see and do and for extra fun there is a quiz on each map as you cycle round.
This is the perfect cycling route for families with young children. It uses three shared-use paths, radiating from the duck pond in Witham, the River Walk and parts of the Cycle Network Route 16. It is very flat, short and entirely traffic free, except for a few road crossings. Some of the paths are segregated, meaning cyclists should use one side and pedestrians use the other.
WItham's River Walk runs through the middle of Witham town. Some areas are open expanses of grass, others left for nature to thrive. Look carefully and you might see muntjac deer, kingfishers, little egrets or even otters as you pass through. The one constant is the river, which is never too far away.
On this route there is also the opportunity to visit Witham’s Town Park, which is laid out informally and contains a variety of trees to picnic under, as well as toddler and children’s play area.
