Family Friendly Route – Braintree (Bocking/Blackwater) - Suitable for Families with Children Under 10 years Old
This route is largely flat and traffic free, suitable for families with children under 10 years old. The route includes lots for children to see and do and for extra fun there is a quiz on each map as you cycle round.
This is the perfect cycling route for families with young children. It is a simple linear ride so at the end, you can retrace your tyre tracks. The route starts and finishes at King George's playing field where there is plenty of space to picnic and play in the park. It uses shared paths through surburban Braintree, all the way to Bocking Blackwater Nature Reserve. The Nature Reserve contains wildflower meadows, grassland, scrub areas and wetland habitats, there is also a wooden board walk and a play sculpture on site. It is the perfect opportunity to spot wildlife and discover veteran trees and wild flowers.
